3D walkthrough
An interactive virtual tour of a real property — Matterport, iGuide, Zillow 3D. Captured by a specialized 360° camera. AI doesn't generate one, and that's the whole point of the threshold.
What it does (the operator translation)
A 3D walkthrough is what a buyer's agent in Atlanta uses to pre-screen a $1.4M Brentwood listing before flying in. They click through the actual rooms, in the actual house, in the actual proportions. Captured in roughly 90 minutes by a Matterport or iGuide operator. Not generated, not inpainted, not staged — measured.
Foundation models can't ship this. They can stage a single still image. They can draft a listing description. They can rank your sphere. They cannot output a Matterport tour because the tour is a measurement of a real space, not a generated image. The structural fidelity that an inpainting prompt preserves on one room, the 3D camera captures on the whole house.
The relevant primary sources here are the PetaPixel buyer-harm documentation and Nathan Cool in Fstoppers on the legal risk of AI tools that quietly alter wall lengths. Above the threshold, the camera is the photographer and the 3D rig is the rig.
Why a working REALTOR cares (the breakpoint)
The $1M threshold. Below it, your phone-and-foundation-model workflow is the baseline competitors are running. Above $1M in Williamson County luxury, the baseline shifts — buyers expect drone, twilight, and a 3D walkthrough. AI doesn't ship any of those three. A premium photo package in Brentwood runs $800–$1,500. At a $1.2M listing, that's 0.1% of price against a 6% commission. Rounding error. Hire the human.
What this is NOT (the category-flip)
A 3D walkthrough is NOT virtual staging. Virtual staging is digital furniture in one photo. A 3D walkthrough is a captured measurement of the real, physical space. And it's NOT a hallucination risk — the camera doesn't make things up.

Where this comes up in The Listing Machine
The 3D walkthrough threshold anchors the upper tier of the Photography pillar. The Listing Machine teaches the AI workflow that gets you to the sub-$1M baseline — and the clean hand-off to a real photographer + 3D operator the day you cross $1M.
