Search evidence loop

Measure discovery without pretending every mention is demand.

SEO/GEO reporting needs separate receipts for eligibility, impressions, clicks, visits, inquiries, citations, and customers. A model mention is useful evidence; it is not a sale or a stable ranking.

The monthly evidence board.

  1. 01

    Eligibility

Public status, rendered content, canonical, sitemap, internal links, and URL Inspection state.

  2. 02

    Search visibility

Impressions, clicks, CTR, position distributions, queries, pages, devices, and comparison window.

  3. 03

    On-site behavior

Landing sessions, engaged visits, downloads, video engagement, and guide-to-guide paths when instrumented.

  4. 04

    Business outcome

Inquiries, qualified conversations, checkout receipts, and customers from owned systems—not inferred from traffic.

  5. 05

    AI observation

Run a fixed persona/intent prompt set across named model surfaces and record response, citations, date, and variation.

  6. 06

    Change log

Tie material edits to URLs and dates; review trends cautiously and avoid claiming causation from one change.

Build the report from the receipts you have.

Return: baseline, leading indicators, outcome indicators, anomalies, evidence gaps, page-level actions, and next month's fixed prompt sample. Separate impression, click, visit, inquiry, citation, and customer evidence. Do not infer one from another. Do not treat a single model answer as a stable rank.

Situation

Fast virtual staging cluster

Pages earn impressions for FSBO and model-specific queries; one AI answer cites the hub; downloads are instrumented but CRM attribution is incomplete.

Useful output

Report impressions/clicks, cited-answer observation, downloads, and attribution gap separately. Prioritize the high-impression low-CTR page and source-to-inquiry instrumentation.

Completion receipt

Dated exports, fixed prompt sample, response captures, page change log, download events, CRM join status, and named next actions.

Research sources

Check the current rules, capabilities, and source basis.

First-party instructions for checking Google's indexed and live view of a URL in a verified property.

  2. 02Google Search Console: Links report

What Search Console's external and internal link reports include, omit, and help diagnose.

  3. 03Google: AI optimization guide

Google's current guidance for generative Search features: useful pages, standard Search foundations, good media, and no query-variation page spam.

  4. 04Neil Patel: Generative engine optimization

Requested practitioner framing for direct answers, authority, original evidence, structured content, and visibility beyond classic rankings.

Product access, limits, local listing rules, platform policies, and laws can change. Re-check the linked authority before important or public work.
