Copyable room controls

Lock the property before describing the furniture.

The most important part of a staging prompt is not the design style. It is the property-lock section that tells the model what the source image is not allowed to change.

By Ryan WannerPractical guideReviewed August 20, 2026

Build the prompt in this order.

  1. 01

    Room job

Name the intended room use without changing what the space physically is.

  2. 02

    Movable additions

List a small set of scale-appropriate furniture and decor. Less is easier to verify.

  3. 03

    Property locks

Name every permanent feature and source-image property that must remain unchanged.

  4. 04

    Composition

Require walkways, scale, perspective, contact shadows, reflections, and matching light.

  5. 05

    Prohibitions

Ban renovation, repair, hidden defects, structural changes, people, text, and invented views.

  6. 06

    Focused correction

After inspection, name one material problem and preserve everything else.

Copy the master. Change only the room brief.

Property-locked staging prompt

ROOM USE
[living room / bedroom / office / dining room]

STYLE
[warm contemporary / transitional / Scandinavian / etc.]

ADD ONLY MOVABLE ITEMS
[specific furniture and limited decor]

LOCKED PROPERTY FEATURES
Do not change walls, windows, doors, openings, trim, built-ins, fireplace, fixtures, switches, outlets, flooring, ceiling, room dimensions, visible condition, camera position, crop, or exterior view.

COMPOSITION
Use realistic furniture scale, clear walking paths, physically plausible placement, consistent perspective, natural contact shadows, and lighting that matches the source.

PROHIBITED
No renovation, repair, decluttering of permanent/attached items, new view, luxury upgrade, structural change, hidden defect, people, pets, logos, or text.

OUTPUT
Return one photorealistic furnished draft at the source aspect ratio. If a requested item cannot fit without changing the property or blocking a permanent feature, omit the item.

One-issue correction prompt

Correct only this issue in the current staged draft: [name one furniture, scale, shadow, reflection, or obstruction problem]. Preserve every other pixel-level property feature, the camera position, crop, lighting direction, and accepted furnishings. Do not redesign the room.

Situation

Home office

The room has one window, closet door, wall vent, and hardwood floor. The brief asks for a desk, chair, lamp, small rug, and one plant.

Useful output

Desk placed without blocking the closet or vent; plausible chair clearance; rug follows floor perspective; shadows match window direction.

Completion receipt

Source, completed prompt fields, first output, named correction, corrected output, property-lock comparison, and disclosure.
